The Guest Speaker for our September Membership meeting will be Joe Kelly, the Landlords of Iowa lobbyist.
Mr. Kelly will cover developments in the 2011 Legislative session, what we can expect for 2012, and what is happening in state politics. He will also talk about ways that landlords can become more effective in the legislative process, and will answer any questions that local landlords may have.
Mr. Kelly has been working in association management for 34 years. He has been a lobbyist at the state legislature for 30 years, 20 of those years having represented landlords. He began his career as a high school English teacher in Tennessee and Colorado. After working in that profession for 4 years, he moved into broadcasting for 5 years, working in Montana and then Des Moines. His first association position was Director of Public Affairs for the Iowa Manufacturers' Association, now known as the Association of Business and Industry.
